About the universities - Bilkent University
Bilkent University is currently running a course of study that has been recognized by the IB as meeting the requirements of the Level 1 IB teacher award.
The University’s Graduate School of Education has developed the MA in Curriculum and Instruction, together with a Teaching Certificate, which qualifies graduates to teach in high schools. The two-year course enables participants to focus their studies on the IB’s Diploma Programme and is currently offered in four subject areas: Turkish language and literature, English, Biology and Mathematics.
The MA in
Curriculum and Instruction comprises a period of internship each
semester in high schools in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, observing
classes and teaching. In addition there is a five-week internship at
Cambridge University in England. The teacher education courses of the
program cover the required educational knowledge and skills.
Subject-area and liberal arts courses broaden and extend students'
understanding of their subject area and educational philosophy. Strong
emphasis is given to international dimensions, including the
International Baccalaureate and IGCSE curricula.
Following successful completion of the MA in Curriculum and Instruction, participants are eligible to register for a Level 1 award.
